High Quality Authentic Made in Gunma, Japan About Kokeshi: Kokeshi (こけし kokeshi), are Japanese dolls, originally from Tohoku-northern Japan. They are handmade from wood which are Mizuki or Kaede in Japanese, suit for making dolls. Kokeshi have a simple trunk and an enlarged head with a few thin, painted lines to define the face. The body has their special hand-painted design, and covered with a layer of wax.
