Description

Beautiful carved resin statue of Mary the Miraculous on a wooden base. Designed and signed by Maria Lea Cerda of Venezuela (photo 13) her modern work is inspired by the Saints. She uses a polychromy technique, hand paints them and then uses either gold leaf guilding, or on this particular piece, gold dust. María Lea Cerda’s artwork has unique lines, shapes and modern features that make her pieces very distinctive. Still with a folk art vibe. No cracks or scratches. There is some wear on the crown. See photos 12 & 13. The signature is worn, but still visible. Measures 7 3/8” tall. Base is wood and measures 4 1/2” by 2 3/8”.
